Freedom in Mind
our future suffocated, I need to breathe, now
My pain is but a shadow
But you deserved more than this
I thought I could break our binds
roots inside were never disentwined
If you could crawl back from the grave
and look yourself right in the eyes
What would you say?
I.. must .. take .. control
I... am ... in... control
the path to integrity is mine
freedom is in sight, and upward I climb
A shared dream of freedom runs into a disease that narrows both lives. The narrator has to choose between giving the rest of their life to someone they care for deeply, and walking away.
Staying suffocates one future; leaving wounds someone who still matters. The narrator never claims the bigger share of pain: "My pain is but a shadow / But you deserved more than this."
Picture your own dead self crawling back from the grave to look you in the eyes. Freedom stops meaning a clean cut, because the roots were never disentwined, and control stops meaning the other person.
Freedom in Mind asks what freedom means when staying destroys one future and leaving wounds someone you still love. Its answer is not emotional erasure but responsibility: the roots remain, but the path to integrity becomes the narrator’s to choose.
