It’s jagged and rough
To face the demon of veritas
warmth without melting, a light that stays lit
The fire has already burned, and what it left is ash and cold. Someone close was suffering beneath a surface that said everything was fine, and the narrator who wanted to help them is collapsing too.
The urge to fix things turns into control, and control is not like trust. The need to steer the outcome has been eating the connection it meant to save.
The shouted "Change!" and "Truth!" stop being slogans and become what is left. Acceptance is jagged and rough, and truth arrives as a demon that has to be faced.
The answer is neither a bigger fire nor no fire at all. It is warmth without melting, a light that stays lit: heat that can be lived with.
