Horrors Beyond the Veil
Not on the demo yet. Its torch on the Path of Ascent lights when the song is finished.
Trust placed in religion, with eyes that are blind
If it aligns with ego, then it came from god’s sign
My eyes warped by contempt, with a heart that is blind
If it conflicted with reason, then humanity I did not find
Relief without easing, forgiveness without expectation
It’s time to accept you as you are
A young person is shown horrors they can’t yet process, and the explanations they are handed don’t match what the world goes on to show them.
Belief becomes a machine for confirming ego: whatever agrees with it must be a sign from god. The narrator sees that clearly in other people.
The same blindness turns up in the narrator. Their eyes are warped by contempt, and where reason was offended they stopped finding humanity at all.
The release is from hatred, not into agreement with the belief. Accepting the other person as they are keeps opposition from becoming one more cage.
- Fathers of HubrisCertainty used as a weapon, and the beast found inside the critic too.
- All Are OneA different certainty, cosmic instead of sacred, with the same blind spot.
